Bruising occurs after traumatic injury and consists of swelling and discoloration under the skin but no disruption of the skin.
Sometimes bruising can be a symptom of an underlying medical condition and should always be checked out if there is no apparent injury, even a minor lack of vitamin C can cause bruising to appear.
Other causes
Some professionals have connected cases of ‘apparent bruising’( these are cases where there is bruising seen without an injury being sustained), with adverse reactions to vaccine, in particular after DPT. This has been seen in children who have low vitamin C levels.
