Lisa Blakemore-Brown Was Right About
Professor David Southall.
Yesterday Professor David Southall was struck off the medical register at the GMC after twice accusing parents of murdering their children. He was struck off for ‘Serious Professional Misconduct’. The GMC stated that he had ‘deep seated attitudinal problems’. Dr Jacqueline Mitton, the chairman of the GMC’s Fitness to Practise Panel said, ‘Your misconduct is so serious that it is fundamentally incompatible with your continuing to be a registered medical practitioner.’
This must come as a huge relief to many parents who have over the years been falsely accused of Munchausen by Proxy by this man. Parents like Suzanne McDonald, whose case was not one highlighted by the GMC in recent hearings but was however one of the first cases recognised and was highlighted in the 20/20 documentary, featuring Educational Psychologist Lisa Blakemore-Brown as far back as 1997.
This documentary clearly shows that Ms Blakemore-Brown was standing up against Prof David Southall in 1997 and yet she was not invited as a witness at the GMC in support of the parents, we have to ask ourselves why? Clearly she saw Prof David Southall wrongly accusing innocent parents, which is evident in the 20/20 documentary and yet this film has been suppressed in this country until recently. That is hiding the truth for ten years about Prof David Southall.
Over the years Ms Blakemore-Brown has often spoken out on the over zealous way that paediatricians such as Prof Roy Meadow and Prof David Southall have targeted innocent parents and diagnosed them falsely as suffering from Munchausen by Proxy, indicating that they injured or even murdered their children to get attention for themselves.
In 1999 Ms Blakemore-Brown was a witness in the Griffiths Inquiry. In fact Jamie Doward in 2004 wrote about this in ‘The Guardian’ in his report describing how Ms Blakemore-Brown had been so concerned about Prof David Southall she had written to the Prime Minister Tony Blair and the then Home Secretary Jack Straw outlining her concerns.
Also in 2004 Ms Blakemore-Brown was invited to speak in the House of Lords on MSBP by Earl Fredrick Howe. Her speech which she called ‘MSBP - A PSEUDO-SCIENTIFIC TRAP.’ was warmly received
In 2005 Ms Blakemore-Brown was one of the authors of the Consensus Document entitled ‘Misdirection of Social Policy’ which was a document outlining the difficulties with the MSBP diagnoses and which highlighted examples of parents falsely accused. Each case highlighted was a case that Ms Blakemore-Brown had been directly involved with as a professional.
In the Spectator this year again Ms Blakemore-Brown raised concerns about the MSBP label and its use in cases where children she felt had been vaccine damaged.
There has been a clear picture emerging since the mid 1990’s on Prof David Southall’s ‘Serious Professional Misconduct’ and yet Ms Blakemore-Brown instead of being listened to has been part of an elaborate ‘witch hunt’ by the British Psychological Society to destroy her career, being deemed as paranoid. It seems that yesterday’s conclusion proves without a doubt that Ms Blakemore-Brown is far from paranoid.
