THE world's largest medical publisher asked the manufacturers of anti-inflammatory drug Vioxx which articles they wanted to include in a so-called medical journal on bone health.

Documents tendered to a Federal Court class action reveal staff at publishing company Elsevier, which produces The Lancet, emailed pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co about its "preferred content selection" for the Australasian Journal of Bone and Joint Medicine.

The publisher also admits the journal is a "single sponsored publication" where most of the content is chosen by Merck with some "input from Elsevier".

The plaintiff in the class action has alleged the journal was fake and it was simply a marketing exercise designed to promote Vioxx. The court has also heard Merck put the names of high-profile arthritis experts on the editorial board of the phoney journal without telling them they had done so.

Since these revelations, Elsevier has expressed embarrassment over its role and admitted it failed to meet its own "high standards for disclosure".

Lead plaintiff Graeme Peterson, on behalf of thousands of Australians, is suing Merck & Co and its Australian subsidiary Merck, Sharp & Dohme for compensation. He blames Vioxx for his 2003 heart attack and alleges the company covered up the increased risk of cardiovascular problems associated with the drug long before it withdrew it in September 2004.

Merck claims there is no definitive scientific proof Vioxx caused heart attacks and that it had acted responsibly.

Tendered emails between Merck Australian marketing staff and "account managers" from Elsevier Australia and Excerpta Medica Communications, a subsidiary of Elsevier, revealed the level of collusion about content in the so-called medical journal.

"It would great if I could arrange a time to come and see you early next week if possible to discuss you (sic) preferred content selection," Elsevier account manager Karina Wieland wrote on January 6, 2004.

The correspondence, tendered by lawyers for the plaintiff, also details the response to complaints by angry medical experts who had their names listed on the journal's editorial board without their knowledge or permission.

A draft letter sent to Merck staff and provisionally addressed to Professor Peter Brooks, says articles were written by Elsevier editorial staff on a topic that "is often selected by the client" and they understood if he did not want to continue being on the honorary board.

They also informed him a disclaimer would now run in the journal saying the publication was made up of company-sponsored material and the board members had not reviewed the content of the articles.

Eli Lilly do it again, now they decide if they don't get you the first time round they will finish you off by giving not only Zyprexa but Prozac as well in the new super pill SYMBAX. Symbax is a combination of the two drugs in one to treat more difficult cases of depression. I would have thought this combination would be a lethal mix as both these drugs have serious adverse reactions.

Dear Friends

Another young life has been lost due to the Gardasil Vaccine. This young girl was a beautiful bright light that brought such happiness to so many and shone so brightly. She sadly died a quadriplegic unable to breathe on her own after having the Gardasil vaccine. Please sign the petition and change things for the better and save lives. Doctors do not report adverse reactions to either the Gardasil or the Cervarix vaccine. 

A UK child Ashleigh Cave just 12, remains desperately ill in Liverpool after the Cervarix vaccine. Her doctor said it was not the vaccine however a second opinion says now it was.She has not stood or walked since her first shot of this vaccine on the 15th October 2008 after she became ill within 30mins of having the vaccine. On 25th October she was admitted into hospital where she has remained. She is very seriously ill with a UTI and her kidneys are now damaged. She has suffered one infection after another.In January she was very sick with a serious chest infection. She was even coughing up blood. She now has heart problems.

This young lady had dreams of becomming a doctor, she even had chosen a university and which gap year to take. She loved horse riding and chilling out with friends, shopping and talking about boys.

Her mother told me last night that she feels the NHS has completely failed her child. She feels our Government has failed her child. She feels no one cares.

Prove once and for all we do care. Whether or not it is Gardasil or Cervarix doctors MUST report any suspected adverse reactions.

If suspected adverse reactions are not reported then how can we ever learn just how many children are becoming ill?

I appeal to all of you.

I have put link to the Story of Ashleigh Cave, a 12 year old healthy girl
who within 30 mins of having Cervarix Vaccine began to suffer with a severe headache.
Within 48 Hours she had collapsed 5 times and was admitted into hospital
unable to stand or walk. She is still in hospital in severe pain unable to
walk and will be there over Christmas, as her home is unsuiable for a wheelchair.

Since publication of her story other parents have come forward saying similar things.

Unfortunately this story has since been banned from further newspaper and TV coverage.
What does that tell you? Looks to me like another cover up hiding the facts from the
public who have a right to know.

I rarely speak out on this website but I do get angry when I see this type of thing wriiten
It makes parents who choose not to vaccinate out to be selfish. This is
unfair. Vaccination is about choices and it involves our choices as a parent
for our children. If the Government listened to what the majority of good parents want
which is our children to be protected against these diseases but not put at risk from Autism
and the many adverse reactions that these vaccinations can cause, maybe the vaccine war would not rage.
Parents want to know alternatives for example that they are permitted to ask for Mercury
free vaccinations, they can have single vaccinations instead of multi-vaccines.
Children can be protected with homeopathic vaccines and healthy diets and good sanitation see here.
People come to sites like this because they want education. This is not an anti vaccine site
it is an educational site. I set this up to help show the risks so as help parents make informed
and educated choices. Informed choices are good choices.
Children can do have adverse reactions to vaccines as the links on my pages show but parents
have got alternatives. It is our right to have access to them.

Zyprexa linked to suicide risk

Clinical trials for Zyprexa have found that patients taking the drug are more likely to commit suicide than patients on any other antipsychotic medication. Lawsuits are now being filed against the maker of Zyprexa, alleging the company knew about the risk of suicidality but failed to warn physicians or the public about that risk.
